37 seconds over; I can taste it.
That's how well I know my 'sghetties. It's the kind of knowing you accumulate from literally being in love with whatever you are doing.
So let me ask you:
What do you resort to when every question in your head throbs, your body refuses to budge and all you want to do is crawl up into a ball and call it a life?
Me, I make spaghetti.
The house is quiet.
The boiling water is bubbling excitement into the air waves and that stiffness in my neck... it's starting to melt.
Look, we gotta learn when to stop pushing. If you are reading this, I guarantee that you too, have an entire list of things you "could be doing better", right?
In my efforts to be productive this morning I pulled out the myriad of crumpled up to do lists and tried to push myself to get things done.
But my body wasn't having it.
It sought comfort not productivity; soft carbs, soothing butter, homemade zesty tomato cinnamon sauce... a treat.
You cannot produce quality from a depleted body and mind; or let me put it this way, of course you could, but it would feel pretty...grindy and miserable.
Do you care to know how you're really feeling today?
Once you know; what are you gonna do about it?
As I twirl my soulful noodles into a perfect bite, I can sense the inspiration start to rise. The recipe: Letting myself flow through an activity that is familiar, easy and pleasureful.
Hmm, who knew getting through an energetic hump could be so tasty.
